Week One: Steps One and Two
Commit and Brainstorm
Each Step will be graded on your use of the artistic tools, originality, extend of your exploration and research!
Step 1 - This week, you will commit to a project. I will be documenting this choice. Remember it can be a combination of Choice 1, 2 and/or 3. You had a whole week to consider your choices. No evaluation here, just commit.
Step 2 - Brainstorming/mindmapping - Spring Project theme is entirely your decision SO you must use the Brainstorming/Map Making or some documented fashion to work out a theme for your THREE images. The THREE images/artwork must stand strong individually as well as together as a Tryptic. I recommend that you start your theme based on HUMAN FORM, STILL LIFE, LANDSCAPE (VEGETATION/URBAN) OR ANY COMBINATION OF THESE FOUNDATIONAL EXPLORATIONS.
A theme with a concept is always a strong project - eg. Landscapes in turmoil. Landscapes in Love. Bodies in motion, etc.
SEE examples of series below and also check out Spring Project Choice 1, 2 & 3 examples.
Next week:
DUE - You must show me your developed theme!
It is strongly recommended that you do more than THREE ideas! Do 5!
Remember sculpture must DO at least 3 perspectives of each of your 3D ideas, so the back,

Week Two: Step Three
Rough Drafts
For all projects, this week you have one week to complete your rough drafts for the spring projects. Next week I will evaluate your preparedness and planning. You cannot start creating your finished products until I have checked this step off.
Fingerpainting workshops were last week - if you are still invested in this technique - USE Gloves - you can find them at the front.
This week - Sculpture workshop - Mandatory for any one using glue guns and/or exacto knives! If you do not do this workshop you cannot use these tools.
NEXT WEEK: I will be evaluating Rough Drafts!
Please move on to medium studies at your discretion anytime in the next two weeks. Use the medium study to make sure you can create the affects you want to make in your good copies. Make sure you discuss with me what medium you will be needing to paint, draw, etc. on.....
eg. canvas sheets, water colour paper, coloured paper, black paper, canvas.
The size for each of your finished 3 pieces is sketchbook size 8.5 x 11 - NO SMALLER
Sculpture - No smaller than 5" tall, wide, about a travel mug size.

Week Three: Step Four
Medium Study
This week you should be finalizing your rough drafts for your 3 images (Spring Series).
If you have finished this, please move on to your MEDIUM study.
Medium study should finalize how you are going to create the effects you want to see in your art work with your chosen medium.
Remember I am here to help as I circulate throughout the class and give you support and instruction.
NOTATIONS: This is reflection on your learning and understanding of self-directed choices, without these you are not making connections and giving insights on personal development and growth.
Notations should be with all your sketchbook work.
Below is the link to Google Classroom - How to Use Your Sketchbook - From Oct 3, 2016 when we first covered it.
